Long term Time-Lapse photography
Long term Time-Lapse movies are created over periods of months or years. It is perfect for capturing the progress of construction or renovations over the period of the project.
Long-term time-lapse photography of a construction site can offer numerous benefits, both practical and aesthetic. Here are some of the key advantages:
Project Documentation: Time-lapse photography provides a comprehensive visual record of the entire construction process, from start to finish. It captures every stage of the project, including site preparation, foundation work, structural construction, and finishing touches. This documentation can be valuable for future reference, project evaluation, and troubleshooting.
Progress Monitoring:
Time-lapse footage allows stakeholders, including project managers, clients, and investors, to monitor the progress of the construction site over an extended period. By condensing months or even years of work into a short video, it provides a clear overview of the project’s development, milestones, and achievements.
Marketing and Promotion:
Time-lapse videos are visually captivating and can be used as powerful marketing tools. They can showcase the construction company’s capabilities, highlight their expertise in complex projects, and create visually engaging content for websites, social media, and promotional materials. These videos can help attract potential clients, investors, and partners.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Time-lapse photography engages stakeholders by providing a dynamic and accessible way to follow the construction process. It allows investors, community members, and the public to visualise the transformation of a construction site over time, fostering a sense of involvement and appreciation for the project.
Quality Control and Issue Detection:
By reviewing the time-lapse footage, project managers and contractors can identify potential issues, such as delays, errors, or inefficiencies, at various stages of construction. This early detection allows for timely corrective actions, helping to maintain project timelines, budgets, and overall quality standards.
Training and Education:
Time-lapse videos can serve as valuable training and educational resources. They can be used to demonstrate construction techniques, safety procedures, and best practices. New employees, apprentices, or students can benefit from visualising the entire construction process and understanding how different tasks fit together.
Legal and Dispute Resolution:
In case of any legal disputes or claims related to construction, time-lapse footage can provide an objective record of events. It can serve as visual evidence to support claims, resolve conflicts, and determine liability.
Creative and Artistic Expression:
Time-lapse photography can transform a construction site into a work of art. The footage captures the dynamic interplay of light, shadows, movement, and human activity. These videos can be aesthetically pleasing and convey a sense of the passage of time, creating visually compelling content for artistic or cultural purposes.
It involves using specialist photography equipment that is controlled and monitored via the 4G cell network. The camera system is housed in a weatherproof housing. JPG images are uploaded to an online gallery in real time for client viewing with raw files stored on 1TB SSD. It can run on solar power with an external battery box.

Short term time-lapse video
The short term time-lapse movie projects that I have worked on are often used to capture and showcase events or scenes that evolve quickly over a short period of time, such as a conference facility or theatre filling up with people, the movement of clouds or stars, the construction of a building, or a construction process such as the installation of scaffolding.
I use a number of different cameras for this depending on location constraints, the photography brief requirements and desired output of the time-lapse video.
These short term time-lapse clips are generally cut together as scenes or a change of perspective.
