Northern Tasmania Architecture Photography Shoot
Photography of Colorbond in Architecture at Adams Distillery
Client: IMA B2B Marketing Consultancy for Lysaght | Fielders | BlueScope
The objective of the photography assignment was to depict the adaptability and visual appeal of the Colorbond materials selected by the design team for the renovation of Adams Distillery. This site was among three in northern Tasmania that Fielders intended to feature the photography of Colorbond in architecture
In 2016, just South of Launceston, Tasmania, at the Glen Ireh estate in Perth, two friends, Adam Pinkard and Adam Saunders, embarked on a journey to turn their whisky dream into reality. Fuelled by their shared ambition and innovative spirit, the Adams set out to establish a single malt whisky distillery.
The picturesque landscape of Tasmania provided the perfect backdrop for their venture, inspiring the Adams to create a distillery that not only produced exceptional spirits but also harmonised with its natural surroundings. Their vision was to craft premium whisky, gin, and other spirits that would be celebrated not only in Australia but also in selected markets worldwide.
However, in February 2021, a devastating fire swept through the distillery, leaving behind ashes and shattered dreams. Despite the setback, Adams Distillery was rebuilt with renewed determination and unwavering commitment.
The distillery’s architecture is a blend of modern innovation and elegance, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape and paying homage to Tasmania’s rich heritage.
The centrepiece of the distillery is the main distilling building, a masterpiece of design and functionality. Clad in Colorbond steel, the building exudes a sense of strength and sophistication, reflecting the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define Adams Distillery’s spirits.
Colorbond steel was selected as the primary cladding material for the Adams Distillery! It’s exceptional durability, strength, and resistance to corrosion make it an ideal choice for a dynamic venue such as a distillery. It’s minimal maintenance requirements ensure that the distillery will maintain its attractive appearance for a long time!
The design possibilities of Colorbond steel provide a distinctive, attention-grabbing exterior that set the distillery apart, make a lasting impression.
In addition to the main distilling building, Adams Distillery boasts four new bond stores, each designed to provide the ideal environment for ageing whisky and other spirits. These bond stores not only serve a practical purpose but also contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the distillery with their minimal yet modern design.
The revitalisation of the existing grounds and landscape works further enhances the beauty of Adams Distillery, creating a welcoming and immersive experience for visitors and whisky enthusiasts alike. The careful attention to detail in every aspect of the distillery’s design reflects the Adams’ commitment to creating a space that is not only functional but also a work of art in its own right.
