Norske Skog Paper Mill Boyer PM2 Conversion<\/h4>\n

A little over a year ago I was commissioned by Norske Skog as their paper mill photographer to capture various stages of the PM2 (Paper Mill 2) conversion project.<\/p>\n

The construction phase is now complete and production of LWC paper (Light Weight Coated ) has begun. The mill has been through an enormous transformation. Time-lapse<\/a> sequences produced of the new winder and the Optiload installation highlight the complexity and challenges faced by the engineering and construction teams. For those who get a kick out of this sort of thing, it was a slick operation.<\/p>\n

On occasions, there were up to five cameras in operation across the construction site. The gear was vulnerable. Certain cameras were unattended in restricted areas during critical and hazardous construction phases. Some camera angles required mounting in high or unusual places. The team members tried to accommodate my requests as best as possible and all of the camera gear came through unscathed.<\/p>\n

I feel very fortunate and appreciative to have been involved in this project, albeit a minor role.\u00a0It was also great to make a few new friends.<\/p>\n

Thanks to all involved for your friendly and professional help. This included excellent access to key areas, detailed assignment briefings, freedom to capture the action with as much creativity as possible while still staying within the guide lines of safety and minimal interference with the construction schedule and the hot cups of tea during those -3 \u00baC mornings (plus wind chill) that are typical at Boyer in the wintertime.<\/p>\n
